
Dr. Hira (middle) has been the invited keynote speaker at conferences for consumer finance educators in the Pacific Rim.
Dr. Hira has extensive teaching, research, and policy expertise at the international level. She has taught in many countries including Canada, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Scotland and the United Arab Emirates. Her international bankruptcy research has had an impact on bankruptcy policies in Canada and Japan. Dr. Hira created family economics curriculums for institutions in the United Arab Emirates, research and training programs in Malaysia, and developed financial counseling centers and counselor training programs in Japan.
Dr. Hira’s work has been cited in the international media, including Nippon Deizai Shinbu and The Otago Daily Times, New Zealand.
